To determine  Wound Care Bandages needed for use, it is important to see into the wound and wound healing process.   Wounds can be classified into different categories based on their cause and severity. The four main types of injuries are:

  • Incision wounds: caused by a sharp object
  • Laceration wounds: caused by a blunt object
  • Puncture wounds: caused by a pointed object
  • Avulsion wounds: caused by tearing or ripping of tissue

Stages of Wound Healing

Wound healing occurs in three stages:

  • Inflammatory phase: The body's immune system responds to the injury, and blood vessels at the wound site constrict to limit bleeding. White blood cells fight off any potential infections. This stage usually lasts for about three days.
  • Proliferative phase: New tissue grows to replace damaged tissue, and the wound begins to close. Blood vessels and new skin cells form to rebuild the damaged area. This stage can last from three to 21 days.
